Ok, so at first I really did see him everywhere. Walking down the street, in the car next to mine on the highway, in stores just at the end of the next aisle...everywhere....
but then, I moved back to my home town (a very small town indeed) and here I am, seeing him everywhere! Now you wouldn't think that in a small town where everyone knows everyone, there would be tall, muscular, bald men sometimes wearing glasses with that very particular "saunter" that Wyatt had.. but there are! Maybe its only wishful thinking that they even look like him, but every time I see "Wyatt" I get to say a prayer of thanks that I had the priviledge to know him while he really did walk among us.

lately i have been 'seeing' him, too... hearing songs that make me think of him, seeing buildings with his name on them... just little things. i can feel this time a year ago in my very center. i miss you, wyatt.

I was at a big birthday bash for some people I didn't know over the weekend, and there was a guy there that reminded me of Wyatt. He was wearing a funny pastel button up shirt with short sleeves and a tie - exactly the kind of outfit Wyatt would wear to a birthday party. He was so funny when he'd get all dressed up in those outfits, which were fine... thirty years ago.

I saw a kid on the metro wearing a coat like one that Wyatt had before going to Africa. For some reason I remember vividly seeing him walk over to his downstairs closet, pull it out, and model it for me. A small 15-20 second memory. Sometime in december of 2004, I think. It was from a thrift store, and he was so proud of finding it. It's hard to find coats that fit tall people well...

I thought I saw him riding in the passenger seat of a car close to my office the other day. The guy had a short beard. I looked again. It wasn't him.

He is the only one I feel like I can talk to today. I can hardly breathe, I need to hear his voice so badly and I'm so desperate for his advice.

That's the real hell of all of this, I never stop needing him in my life no matter how long he's been gone. It never ever gets any better and I never need him any less.

I saw a guy wearing white and green track pants at the grocery store. He was tall, bearded, and carrying a case of beer. All i could do was smile. It was exactly how i would imagine running into him. Sent a bittersweet pang through me. Stings, but refreshes my memory.
